El Salvador, Black Honey
We are so excited to introduce the newest addition to our line of coffees from Alternate Route Coffee Co: the El Salvador, Black Honey.
This black honey processed single origin coffee from El Salvador has notes of blackberry, caramel, and brown sugar. It is a smooth, rich medium roast that pairs wonderfully with sweet pastries.
Like all the coffees we sell at Gems of Edmonton, this coffee will be roasted fresh, so don't wait: place an order and support a local roaster.
Located in the Apaneca Ilamatepec, Juayua region of El Salvador, El Recuerdo is a 7 Ha coffee farm producing Bourbon-variety coffee from under a canopy of Ingas and avocados. The Ingas help keep an average temperature of 20ºC all year round, which is perfect for coffee production.
El Recuerdo was originally bought by Juan Carlos Gregg Meza in 2004 as part of his mission to contribute to the production of great quality coffees in El Salvador. He's committed to continuing the farm's tradition of producing coffees under innovative agricultural practices that not only obtain good yields but preserve the great quality that El Recuerdo is known for.
Juan Carlos' commitment doesn't end with his coffee plants, though—he also cares deeply about his employees and their well-being on and off the farm. He pays them a wage above what is legally required, offers paid vacation periods, and covers medical expenses when they're needed. He understands that the success of his coffee is only possible with the help and commitment of his farm workers and hopes to keep inspiring that level of dedication for generations to come!
