Rooibos Tea

Brewing Guide

Follow this step-by-step recipe

location

STEP 1

Heat the water

Rooibos tastes purer if brewed in spring water or filtered water. The water should be allowed to reach a temperature of 212 F when heated.

location

STEP 2

Add water to the teapot

Preheat the teapot by adding some hot water and swirling it around for a few seconds; discard the water. Place the teapot near the warm kettle to keep it cozy.

location

STEP 3

Add the Rooibos tea leaves to the teapot

Add 4.26 grams (one heaped teaspoon) of tea leaves per eight ounces (one cup) of water using a measuring spoon. If you prefer stronger tea, adjust the measurement to suit your tastes. Strong Rooibos tea is equally delicious.

location

STEP 4

Steep for a long time

The longer the leaves steep, the greater the number of antioxidants and nutrients in the final brew. For excellent flavor and nutritious goodness, Rooibos tea should steep for a minimum of four to five minutes.

location

STEP 5

Strain and enjoy

Once the tea has steeped, place a tea strainer over a glass mug and pour the tea. Enjoy Rooibos tea in its natural state, or add milk and sugar or honey for sweetness.
